I Am Respectful

A simple way to begin conversations about respect, boundaries, kindness, and how we treat the people around us.

Respect is one of those words children hear often, but may not always understand in practice. What does it actually look like? How does it feel to give it, and to receive it?

I Am Respectful offers a simple, concrete way into those questions. It brings respect down from the abstract and into the everyday — how we speak to people, how we treat their things, how we listen, how we make room for someone who is different from us.

What I find valuable about this kind of book is that it doesn't moralize. It simply shows. And children, more than most, learn from what they see modeled rather than what they're told.

A good starting point for conversations about kindness, boundaries, and the small ways we show care for the people around us.
